About

Knowing that two people can be at the same place at the same time & create to totally different sets of images is one of my favourite things about photography. I am very thankful to have friends in the same field of work; seeing things from their perspective often shifts my own.
A little bit about me,
Ashley MacGillivray
Hello! I am Ashley a Canadian Girlie living in the Alberta Badlands with a camera in my hand!
From the first time taking photos with a disposable film camera on a class field trip to the Calgary Zoo to decades later capturing life's big & little moments I can not remember a time I haven't had a camera in hand.
While enjoying many of the wonders Alberta has to offer one of my favourite things is exploring the Rockies & of course taking a photo or two. There is something so magical about hiking, spending quality time with friends & getting to share a part of that experience with those who may not get to see or climb those same mountains

A widely known fact about me is that I am a crazy cat lady! Some would even say it is in my blood as the MacGillivray crest is a cat!
"Touch not the cat without a glove"

I absolutely love little Miss Ella & even have a tattoo of her; it was one of my first few tattoos! Of course I cannot forget Cheeto our newly adopted stray; I'm still deciding on a tattoo for him; you can never have too many cat tattoos right?
In 2025 I graduated from The Photography Institute & continued to level up my skillset including taking some niche photography courses like a pet photography course.
I plan to continue to learning in all genres of photography & expand my education in other related fields like marketing & art.
I found through getting my photography degree that I really do love learning & sharing my knowledge with other!

I currently sell prints at a local coffee shop, The Steaming Cup, & feel beyond honoured that people have my art hanging in their homes. Head downtown to check out my current curation of prints & postcards, handmade goods from other local artisans & try out their delicious drinks!
Lastly I wanted to give a big thank you to every person who supports me in any way. From sharing my name in conversation, liking or sharing my art, purchasing a print & so much more. I would not be able to do this without you.
