I love photographing grads; its one of my favourite genres of photography even more so if they add in some personal touches, photos with their horse, hockey gear, ballet slippers & anything that showcases their personality. When Dawn reached out for some photos of her sons upcoming graduation photos & told me they wanted to add in his love for baseball I was immediatily excited.

When talking about this shoot I had a few ideas pop into my head like the photo below & a shoot through the fencing at the baseball diamond. I haven't watched a lot of baseball & have never played it so it was very fun to do this shoot let him take the lead with some poses that you may see in an actual game.

As a photographer I find it hard to let go of some of the control in a shoot. It has served me well specailly with graduates to let them have just as much say in the photos as I do; with only one rule. We need one photo that is 'nice' with a big smile for mom. Making these shoot seem more like a little warm up for a game, in fancier clothes, helps to make those a little camera shy feel more at home infront of the lens.
