Even though I travel quite a bit I've always wanted to explore Canada first to learn about where I live & there is no where I've been that has held my heart like Waterton. Whether you're there for the views, the hikes, the food or any of the other many reasons you're never disappointed.

When you think of Waterton the Prince Of Wales Hotel is one of the first things that pop into mind. The hotel is often photographed so it can be a difficult to find a different perspective & one that does this magnificent building justice. While exploring the area I was lucky enough to come across this hallow log & of course had to try to take a photo. This is one of my favourite photos I've ever taken.

Red Rock Canyon is something you can't miss while you are in the area. The bright red colouring in the rock against the vibrant green forest & dark blue mountain are something you just can't find anywhere else. The road to get there is also known for all sorts of wild life from bears to moose, mountain goats & even a bald eagle or two. If you're lucky enough you'll see one near a place where you can park & safely enjoy the amazing creatures.

This photo of a brown bear was taken on the road to Red Rock Canyon. I often stop on the pull outs to take photos of the scenery. Sometimes I even luck out & get to see some wildlife. One of my next investments will be a telephoto lens to get some more detailed shots closer up of wildlife while I hike & explore our Alberta Rockies.

If you are a hiker or know a hiker you will know that the Alberta Rockies have an abundance of hikes all across the mountains with endless views. Whether you want to see lakes, waterfalls, canyons or caves the Rockies have it all. Waterton is one of my favourite places to hikes & many of my bucket list hikes are from here. This waterfall was a gorgeous view at the end of the hike on a rainy day while enjoying lunch & is just one of many rewards at the end of a hike.

Crypt Lake is known as one of the best hikes in the world. You take the ferry to the trail head & from the moment you step onto the boat the views start. You get to see lush forests, waterfalls, creeks, & at the end you are rewarded with this beautiful lake perfect for a refreshing dip. Despite being scared of heights I took on this hike with friends knowing I would have to climb a ladder into a cave/tunnel & then scale cliff to get to the lake but it is all worth it! I highly recommend this hike to anyone who loves adventure although it isn't for the faint of heart as it is a full day hike with considerable elevation gain.

No matter the season or the weather there's no shortage of views of things to do in Wateron. From my first camping trip there with family as a kid to hiking adventures & weekends with friends as an adult this place will always be my favourite to explore my home away from home.

As always more to come
