While working at the bar I had a regular & fellow photographer buy me my macro lens for my birthday with a note that said every photographer should have a macro lens & boy was he right. At that point in my life had never received such a thoughtful gift from someone who didn't really even know me outside the bar. His kindness opened up a new type of photography for me.

Macro photography was not something I had ever looked into or really even thought about. It wasn't even a kind of photography I seen much of outside of National Geographic. After receiving this lens & trying it out I certainly have a lot of appreciation for the art of macro photography.

My favourite thing about macro photography is seeing my subject in a way my eyes can't. The detail on this cow jaw I found in a random field is not something my eyes picked up while I looked at it.

While I have had this lens for years I still find myself learning how to use it. As someone who is very shaky it has taken quite some time to learn how to breathe properly while taking photos to not add any more unnecessary movement. Every time I use the lens I learn something new & can't wait to see where more practice will take me.

Here's more macro photography

About Me

IMG_1545.jpg

I'm a southern Alberta based photographer who has a passion for adventure. Weather its a trip to the badlands or the mountains I always have my camera in hand & sometimes I even remember to take the lens cap off before I try to take photo.
