There is something so otherworldly about the northern lights. Whether you've seen them multiple times or you are seeing them for the first time its one of those things you can't help feel like a kid on Christmas looking up at the lights in complete awe.

Photographing the aurora is one of the things I find on the more challenging side. Its not often you can see them with your naked eye in Southern Alberta despite being able to pick them up on a DSLR camera. I've spent many late nights adventuring backroads & even Dinosaur Provincial Park hoping to not only see them but capture the perfect picture. I've found this niche of photography has been the hardest for me to learn as its not often I get the opportunity to test out my knowledge on the subject. From playing to settings or trying to set up a dynamic shot in complete darkness it definitely takes patience, practice & a little bit of luck.

The latest night I spent out with the aurora visible was I seen was the best yet. Colours of green, yellow & even purple were dancing above me. You can't help but thank Mother Nature for the amazing night after every display of lights.

I can't wait to see where the next adventure takes me & what I'm able to capture.
Here's more photos of the northern lights I've been lucky enough to capture.
